Exciting news for everyone who is passionate about wildlife, the Galapagos, and conservation.
Our own Pablo Valladares has won the first-ever Top Conservation Guide award from the famous Wanderlust World Guide Awards!
Pablo has been guiding Galapagos land tours with us longer than any of our other guides, and his enthusiasm and knowledge is truly something to cherish. Even we, as his co-workers and friends, continue to learn about the Galapagos from Pablo due to his constant curiousity about this amazing part of the world.
These guide awards have been running since 2005 and this is the first time they have dedicated an award specifically for Conservation.
It is also the first time a Galapagos Naturalist Guide has received an award from this world-reknowned competition. Travelers from around the world nominated more than 4000 guides this year, and we could not be more proud that Pablo has received this very-well deserved recognition.
Once again, a huge congrats to you Pablo, and a big thank you to all our travelers who took time to nominate not just Pablo, but all of our Galakiwi guides for these awards.
The wildlife of the Galapagos Islands may lure in most travelers, but we know it is passionate people like Pablo who create the most lasting memories, sparking the conversations about conservation that are so important in ensuring fragile environments like the Galapagos Islands remain pristine for future generations to enjoy.
You can read about the official announcement on the Wanderlust website, which includes some quotes on why Pablo, and other great guides, were selected to be the finalists for 2018.
